First Allied Securities, Inc. is an independent broker/dealer that provides back-office support to approximately 1,000 independent financial advisors located throughout the U.S.

The Product

iStation is First Allied’s advisor intranet that includes everything they need to do business on a daily basis. This includes news, training opportunities, benefits, discounts, marketing and sales support, reference materials, contacts and product information. iStation also serves as a gateway to numerous internal applications. iStation also includes a section called teamStation which is the intranet for First Allied employees.

The Customer

iStation is accessed by financial advisors, their staff and First Allied employees. The user skill ranges from beginner to intermediate.

Objectives for User Experience

We are currently working to improve the search functionality and implement a content maintenance plan to remove content that is no longer relevant; however, due to regulatory requirements, we must keep an extensive archive. We are also working to collect user feedback via card sorting to improve the navigation so that users are less reliant on search.
